If you work from home, have children who nap, or have skittish pets, you might consider vacating the premises while the crew is on the work site.

Watch for debris during the siding installation process.

It would be a mistake to give your kids an “all clear” to play in your yard or driveway when crews go home for the night. Even though your residing contractor will try to be as neat as possible, there may be dangerous scaffolding, an errant nail, or other debris left behind.

Take care when walking in your yard – and also be on the lookout for the neighbors’ kids and wandering animals.

Prepare the outside of your house for siding replacement.

Cut the grass short before your scheduled residing start date, so the crews will have an easier time finding debris or misplaced tools. Next, move anything that may block access to your exterior walls, such as patio furniture, outdoor decorations, or stacks of firewood.
